P S A L . V I I (7)
Lest he devour my soule like a lyon, and teare it in pieces, while there is none to helpe.
O Lord my God if I have done this thing, if there bee any wickednesse in mine hands,
If I have rewarded evill unto him that had peace with me (yea, I have delivered him that vexed me without cause)
Then let the enemy persecute my soule and take it: yea, let him tread my life downe upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
Arise, O Lord, in thy wrath, and lift up thyselfe against the rage of mine enemies, and awake for mee according to the judgement that thou hast appointed.
So shall the congregation of the people compasse thee about: for their sakes therefore returne on high.
The Lord shall judge the people: judge thou me, O Lord, according to my righteousnes, and according to mine innocencie, that is in me.
O let the malice of the wicked come to an end, but guide thou the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reines.
My defence is in God, who preserveth the upright in heart.
God judgeth the righteous, and him that contemneth God every day.
Excepte hee turne, he hath whet his sword: hee hath bent his bow and made it ready.
Hee hath also prepared him deadly weapons: hee will ordeine his arrowes for them that persecute me.
Behold, he shall travel with wickednesse: for he hath conceived mischiefe, but he shall bring foorth a lie.
He hath made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the pit that he made.
His mischiefe shall return upon his owne head, and his cruelty shal fall upon his owne pate.
I will praise the Lord according to his righteousnesse, and will sing praise to the Name of the Lord most High.
