since been replaced by a cast-iron manufactured bench, since the soft-wood
filbert-tree branches the seat was made from proved very susceptible to rot, quickly
developing colonies of fungus, even when painted or stained. One big advantage of
using rocks for walls instead of treated landscape ties is that they don't rot out,
although with all the rainy weather on the West Coast, moss becomes another
maintenance bugbear. All the rocks and paths require constant cleaning!
